Welcome to the Fiji Karate FederationFiji claims 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze at Australian OpenShaun Yuen was the star of the Fiji Team scooping 2 Gold medals at the 2009 Australian Open Karate Championships held in Melbourne from the 17th - 19th of April. His win in the Kata discipline in both the Boys 11 Years Kyu and Open grade was a testament of the hard work and effort he put into his training. As Junior Instructor(Kata) Beato Lenoa mentions, "You don't get any higher than gold when it comes to medals and for Shaun to win two golds this year is excellent." Also contributing to the medal tally was Chesly Yee scooping all 3 bronze medals in the Kata and Kumite disciplines for the Boys 13 Years Open and Kyu Grades. Sandip Pala won second place in the Cadets Kyu grade Kata to claim Silver with fourth and final team member, Anthony Yam, not making the cut in his events.
